His Eternal Melody by mind-crash His Eternal Melody by mind-crash
A conflict in between light and darkness. People of all kinds go through these kinds of struggles. Unsure of the future or what's to come, wondering if their life even has any worth. This can throw an individual into a state of hope, or a state of depression. Although this character may translate everything that has happened to him as sad and heartbreaking chapters of his life, hopefully he can leave that behind and become fully emerged into the light.

This piece was heavily inspired by Alexander McQueen's Savage beauty collection. The character is my own, hope you enjoy =)
*important note* this character is LEFT-handed.

Huh. Okay then ^^;

Violin's a left-handed instrument anyway apparently. Don't think I've ever seen on that way...

left handed violinists hold the bow in the left hand and the violin in their right.

right handed violinists hold the bow in their right hand and the violin in their left.

You may have not seen this before because just like left-handed artists there are few left-handed violinists. And most orchestras will request that left-handed violinists play right handed so the organization doesn't look sloppy.

I know this for a fact, in Elementary school I played the violin. Hope this clears up your confusion.

wow, I love your style and he detail. You can really see the contrast between the dark and light. And OMG!!! he's being run through with arrows!!!!!!! That has to hurt. and are those golden streaks going down his coat feathers? ... speaking of which, I love the flow of here. I may be wrong, but to me the look on his face seems like he's in pain but kind of numb to it. he also seems entranced with the violen. the conflict can be painful and cause physical and mental struggles. great work!

So many good things to say about this, I don't even know where to start. I'll start with my favorite thing about it then, I think its the texture the piece has. The way its shaded ensures gives everything a life about it that I could almost see myself touching it and seeing what it feels like. And that darkness? no words to say besides epic. seriously just epic. I love the arrows as well, though its got to hurt to continue playing while being shot like that, doesn't it?

Part of me wishes there was something on the side of the light to battle the darkness but then I look at teh picture and im like... wouldn't that be too much? it simply wouldn't fit!!!its sad cuz despite him looking for the light, I could see him falling into the darkness behind him. I hope he makes it out though.

Question that has nothing to do with anything (well two) which program did you use for this and how big was the canvas? anything that detailed has to be huge! It was worth it though, the detail is beautiful and I can't imagine how much time and work you put into it.

Wow! Thank you so much for the heartfelt comment! I'm really happy that my pieces can touch people in a certain way =). It really makes me feel like I have been growing as an artist.

As for the program and canvas. I create my lineart in MangaStudio. I draw and ink at 600-1200 DPI (depending on the piece and how far in detail I want to go with it) this particular piece was created in 600 DPI, on a 13x19 Canvas. For colouring I transferred the image to photoshop. Where I was able to easily change the colours of some of the lineart (without losing the original black inking just in case) and then created brush tools to help in my strive with the feathers (drew a few of the feathers, then created them into brushes so I could scatter them) The design on his jacket was all completely hand inked and altered in photoshop, so all of the feathers and detail on the jacket itself were individual inking with no use of my brushes.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask, I am very willing to answer any questions on how I go about creating my pieces.

Wow, thank you for the detailed answers! Photoshop always seems so complicated whenever I try to use it (I'm a paint tool sai gal lol). Creating a brush for it sounds complicated but it was worth the result I say.

I'm glad you don't mind the questions, half the time I feel like i'm being too nosy lol.

it's not too bad once you get the hang of it. I've been using photoshop for years tho and there's still always something new to learn from it. Creating a brush isn't really complicated at all as long as you know how to do it =)
